The javelin is unlike any other throwing event. It isn't about brute strength, size, or power. Any good javelin thrower will tell you it's all about technique. Improper mechanics when throwing will lead you down a road of shoulder and elbow injuries so this program has a focus on injury prevention by strengthening the muscles in the shoulder, while building a solid rotator cuff. Your weight training program is designed to build a strong, but stable thrower. You will perform drills with medicine balls, work with sleds, and work on form for the entire throwing motion.
